Sen. Marco Rubio Monday night slammed what he called a politically motivated Justice Department, casting doubt it would bring an indictment in Hillary Clinton's email scandal – and vowing if elected, "there will be real accounting with a real Justice Department and a real attorney general."
In an interview with the Fox News
"Hannity" host Sean Hannity, the GOP presidential candidate promised "we're going to hold people accountable."
Saying he "doubts" the Obama administration's Justice Department would be inclined to bring an indictment in the email case – despite the fact Clinton "didn't care that she exposed classified and sensitive information" – Rubio said he would take politics out of the issue.
"There will be a real accounting with a real Justice Department and real attorney general," he declared.
"I can't order the Justice Department to do anything. I am confident… I will have appointed an attorney general who will follow the law… not one who looks the other way when cronies" are acting "lawless."
Rubio added he has "confidence in the FBI," but added "if laws were broken I will have an attorney general who will hold people to account, whoever they are."
