Melania Trump Saturday condemned her husband's comments from the 2005 video that was leaked on Friday – saying that they were "unacceptable and offensive to me."

"The words my husband used are unacceptable and offensive to me," Trump said in a statement issued by her husband's campaign. "This does not represent the man that I know.
"He has the heart and mind of a leader.

"I hope people will accept his apology, as I have, and focus on the important issues facing our nation and the world," she said.

In a tape, leaked to The Washington Post and NBC News, Donald Trump blurted out lewd and sexually charged comments about women as he waited to make a cameo appearance on a soap opera in 2005.

Trump bragged about kissing, groping and trying to have sex with women who were not his wife on the recordings, caught on a live microphone, in a conversation with Billy Bush, then a host of the television show "Access Hollywood."

The conversation occurred in September 2005, several months after Trump married Melania, who is his third wife.

The nominee issued a video apology late Friday. The debacle came two days before Trump's second debate with Hillary Clinton.
