The bomb blasts that
killed dozens in Brussels Tuesday suggest the Islamic State terrorists are winning, former CIA deputy director Michael Morell said Tuesday.
In an interview on the CBS program
"This Morning," Morell, who served as acting director twice with the CIA, said the bombings in the Belgium capital are a "reflection of how large, how compartmented, how sophisticated the ISIS capability is in Europe."
"ISIS has a large and sophisticated terror network in Europe that has not been degraded," he said, adding over "the next few days, the threat level is high" following the Belgium attacks.
And though the United States is having success fighting ISIS in Syria, the terror group is "growing rapidly in the rest of the world," Morell tells
CBS News.
ISIS likely has "more territory today around the world than they did at any time, and they've conducted now attacks in Paris, San Bernardino and now in Brussels," he said.
"So I would say they're winning, right? They're winning, and we're going to have to find additional approaches to try to undermine them," Morell said.
