Donald Trump's numbers are growing nationwide because he is delivering a positive agenda, while Hillary Clinton and running mate Sen. Tim Kaine are busy making insults, Trump's running mate, Indiana Gov. Mike Pence, said Wednesday.
"They look at Donald Trump who has now laid out a plan to get the economy moving again, to end illegal immigration, to name and to confront and to destroy ISIS and radical Islamic terrorism as a threat to the world," Pence told Fox News' "Fox & Friends" program.
"This entire agenda is resonating with people across the country. All we get from Hillary Clinton and Tim Kaine are insults. Insults are not a plan."
On Tuesday, Clinton attacked Trump as being "temperamentally unfit and totally unqualified to be president of the United States."
Kaine, speaking in North Carolina, said Trump has "offered nothing but empty promises and divisive rhetoric" and said the nation would be "far less safe" under a Trump presidency.
Pence also addressed the ongoing controversy over Trump's stance on his income tax returns, telling the morning program Wednesday both he and Trump have made it clear they will release their tax returns.
Tuesday night, though, Trump told Fox News' Bill O'Reilly he will release his returns "immediately" if Clinton releases her full health record.
"Mine will be out later this week," Pence said Wednesday of his own tax returns. "It will be a quick read for me. He'll release his tax returns after the audit is done."
But the really important issue in the campaign, Pence continued, is while Clinton was secretary of state, she and the Clinton Foundation "were taking major foreign donors contributions to that Foundation . . .
"This pay-to-play politics has begun to come to light for the American people, but it's time for Hillary Clinton to come clean and make all of those e-mails available."
Pence also commented on President Barack Obama's troubles in China, saying there is no question over the past two terms, Obama and Clinton's leadership on the world stage has weakened the reputation of the United States.
"The way we restore American credibility is electing a president who will command the respect of the world," Pence said. "Donald Trump made it clear, if they weren't going to wheel the staircase up, the plane was going to roll.
"I guarantee you, five minutes after that tower was informed in Beijing that we were going to roll, I guarantee you that staircase would have been rolled up to Air Force One, and the president would have been able to walk off with dignity."
