The New York Daily News — which has flaunted its hatred of Donald Trump with insulting headlines, doctored photos and poisonous editorials — was at it again on Friday with a gigantic Page One plea: "News to America: Bury Trump in a Landslide."
A smaller headline underneath urges: "Restore U.S. honor with giant defeat of the fearmongering demagogue."
Inside, the splashy tabloid devotes more than 7,900 words to an epic editorial trashing the Republican presidential candidate and accompanies the purple prose with insulting cartoons.
One drawing titled "Barfback Mountain," harps on Trump's admiration for Russian President Vladimir Putin by showing the two men shirtless and riding a horse together. The title is a send-up of the gay-love drama, "Brokeback Mountain."
Another cartoon portrays the billionaire real-estate tycoon as Nazi madman Adolf Hitler, and another has him telling The Statue of Liberty she has "lousy breasts."
"Herewith, we fervently pray, is the political obituary of Donald Trump and all that he stands for," the newspaper's editorial board crows as it rips into him as a "liar," a "demagogue," and "ignoramus" a "misogynist" and an "enemy of democracy."
"Donald Trump is ending his campaign in an ever more inflammatory and destructive assault on American democracy. The end of his presidential dreams must come under an avalanche of anti-Trump votes on Nov. 8."
In past months, The News has depicted Trump as a circus clown on its front page, accompanied by headlines like "Dawn of the Brain Dead" and "Dead Clown Walking." The newspaper and referred to his celebrity supporters as an "Insane Clown Posse."
