More than 8 out of 10 surveyed say Donald Trump won the first presidential debate Monday night, according to a Newsmax poll.
The results:
- Donald Trump: 83 percent
- Hillary Clinton: 17 percent
The survey captured the results of more than 17,700 respondents. Of those, 64 percent said they voted for Mitt Romney in 2012.
The religious breakdown of those surveyed:
- Protestant: 25 percent
- Evangelical/Fundamentalist: 18 percent
- Roman Catholic/not active: 16 percent
- Roman Catholic/active: 11 percent
Also, 43 percent said they were a member of the National Rifle Association.
