Hillary Clinton has a narrow lead over Donald Trump in a head-to-head matchup that's tightened in the last three weeks, a new national poll shows.

In the Economist/YouGov online poll released Thursday, the one-on-one breaks down like this:

  • Clinton: 47 percent
  • Trump: 44 percent

In a match including third party candidates, the support goes like this:

  • Clinton: 42 percent
  • Trump: 38 percent
  • Libertarian candidate Gary Johnson: 6 percent
  • Green Party candidate Jill Stein: 4 percent

The survey's margin of error is plus or minus 4.1 percentage points.

According to the pollster, Clinton also had a 3-point advantage over Trump in a survey Aug. 20, but was ahead 47-41 percent in its Aug. 13 poll, and 48-41 percent on Aug. 6.

In other findings:

  • 24 percent think Clinton will likely win "in a landslide," while 29 percent predict she'll win at least narrowly.
  • 19 percent think Trump will win narrowly, while 9 percent think that he'll win in a landslide election; 19 percent aren't sure.
