A Civitas poll taken after both the Republican and Democratic conventions shows Donald Trump leading Hillary Clinton by 4 points in North Carolina.
The poll, conducted by phone from July 31 to August 2, with 400 likely voters, asked who they would select if the election were held today:
- Trump: 46 percent;
- Clinton: 42 percent;
- Libertarian Gary Johnson: 6 percent;
- Undecided: 7 percent.
Majority of the voters say Trump would be better at job creation, the poll shows:
- Trump: 51 percent;
- Clinton: 41 percent;
- Unsure: 8 percent.
Clinton had the edge when voters were asked who has a "better personality and temperament to serve effectively as president:"
- 52 percent chose Clinton;
- 38 percent chose Trump.
Voters also believe Clinton would respond better in an international crisis:
- 49 percent chose Clinton;
- 44 percent chose Trump.
In dealing with terrorism, Trump received 48 percent to Clinton's 43 percent. And, on the question of who is more honest and trustworthy, Trump received 45 percent to Clinton's 36 percent.
