Quoth the Raven: Twitter Goes After Rick Perry Slip

Former Texas Gov. Rick Perry's presidential campaign met its Waterloo in 2012 when he forgot during a debate one of the three federal departments he would eliminate as president.

Perry managed to avoid a gaffe that bad in Thursday afternoon's debate of the lower-rated candidates, but he did inspire mockery on Twitter after mispronouncing the conservative movement's most iconic president of recent history.


When asked about immigration at the debate, Perry responded, "For 30 years this country has been baited with that. All the way back to when Ronald Raven signed a piece of legislation that basically allowed for amnesty for over 4 million people and the border is still not secure."

Perry mumbled a few words at various times during the debate, but it was that mispronunciation of "Reagan" that lit up the twittersphere – and its Photoshop enthusiasts:
