The vitriol between Marco Rubio and Ted Cruz reached the boiling point Tuesday as the Florida senator's campaign accused the Texas senator's handlers of  "dirty tricks" for allegedly promoting a CNN report that Rubio's advisers are advising him to end his bid for the White House.

"In Hawaii, we're seeing some dirty tricks by the Ted Cruz campaign," Rubio's spokesman Alex Conant said on MSNBC, according to The Hill.

"The Ted Cruz campaign sent that report to their supporters in Hawaii yesterday, to some of our supporters in Hawaii yesterday, suggesting that Marco was getting out of the race. It's the exact same thing Ted Cruz did to Ben Carson in Iowa. There's no place for that in Republican politics."

Rubio says the CNN report is inaccurate.

Cruz's campaign told The Hill that the CNN report, which was peddled in an email, did not come from the Texas senator's campaign.

Four states are involved in presidential contests on Tuesday with Hawaii holding caucuses and Idaho, Michigan and Mississippi holding primaries.
