Ted Cruz: Obama's SOTU Proposals Like an SNL Skit

Sen. Ted Cruz says that the proposals in President Barack Obama's State of the Union address aren't much different from a Saturday Night Live skit.

When the Texas Republican was asked what he thought about Obama's proposal to hit big banks with new fees, he said it reminded him of Christopher Walken's SNL character, who wanted to add "more cowbell" as an improvement to a musical performance, Politico is reporting.

"To every problem, his solutions was, 'more cowbell, more cowbell,'" he explained.

"This president, to every problem, his solution is 'more taxes, more government," he said.

However, the Texas Republican said that before he addresses Obama's proposals, he wants to wait until he hears the entire speech, adding that he's unimpressed with some of what's been revealed already, specifically the new tax and environmental proposals.

Obama will be facing a Republican-led Congress during his State of the Union address Tuesday night, a first for the second-term president.
