Ted Cruz was booed Tuesday during the fifth Republican presidential debate for trying to talk over CNN moderator Wolf Blitzer in response to a question to Rand Paul about whether toppling Iraqi President Saddam Hussein was a good move.
"What we have to decide is whether or not regime change is a good idea," Paul said, contending that regime change has not worked in some Middle Eastern countries.
But as Paul finished, Cruz interrupted.
"Hold on," Blitzer said. "Hold on. Hold on. Hold on."
Cruz continued, charging that Blitzer was asking "the wrong questions. We should be defeating … "
"Wait your turn," Blitzer said. "We have two hours. We'll have plenty of time. …"
" … The focus should be on defeating our enemies," Cruz continued. "Iran has declared war on us. …"
" … Senator, please," Blitzer said.
"… Fighting radical Islamic terrorism," Cruz continued.
"These are the rules you all agreed to," Blitzer said, obviously angered at Cruz. Members of the audience started booing Cruz, who then stopped.
"Hugh [Hewitt], go ahead with your question," he said to the conservative radio talk-show host.
