Ted Cruz said Tuesday that "of course" he would ask his campaign manager to resign in light of the Corey Lewandowski scandal but Donald Trump's bid for the White House is "built on attacks, on insults."

"It shouldn't be complicated," Cruz told CNN town hall host Anderson Cooper in Milwaukee. "Members of the campaign staff should not be physically assaulting the press.

"That shouldn't be a complicated decision," he said.

"It's consistent with a pattern of the Trump campaign," the Texas senator added. "The culture of the campaign has been a campaign built on attacks, on insults.

"There is no place in politics for insults, for personal attacks, for going to the gutter — and there should be no place for physical violence, either."
