Donald Trump fired a political aide Sunday over alleged racist Facebook postings.
Trump campaign manager Corey Lewandowski announced the firing of Sam Nunberg, an on-again, off-again Trump aide who has been accused of making racist posts on Facebook.
Effective immediately, Nunberg is "no longer associated with the Donald J. Trump for president campaign," Lewandowski
told CNN.
Nunberg, who says he doesn't remember writing the posts, which date as far back as 2007, them, did not respond to Bloomberg News efforts to reach him for comment.
The posts, which use racial epithets and make mocking references to President Barack Obama's African heritage and use a slur to describe the Rev. Al Sharpton's daughter, were first unearthed by
Business Insider.
"Sam has played a terrific role in connecting the Trump campaign with the major media and grassroots organizations that have been key to Trump's success," Christopher Ruddy, CEO of Newsmax Media, said. "I hope the investigation of this matter shows it is much to do about nothing."
