Was Donald Trump dealt a defective microphone at the first presidential debate Monday night — and, if so, was it done on purpose?
That's what the Republican presidential candidate wants to know after claiming he was speaking into a "defective mic."
"[They] gave me a defective mic. Did you notice that my mic was defective within the room?" Trump told reporters after his 90-minute verbal slugfest with Hillary Clinton at Hofstra University in Hempstead, New York.
A CBS News video of Trump's complaint also shows the billionaire real-estate tycoon wondering aloud whether foul play might be involved.
"I wonder, was that on purpose? Was that on purpose? But I had a mic that wasn't worked properly — working properly," Trump said.
Politico reports it's not the first time Trump has claimed to have had problems with amplifying his voice.
During a January rally in Florida, Trump announced, "And by the way, I don't like this mic … When someone does a bad job, like this stupid mic, you shouldn't pay the bill."
