Donald Trump reiterated his hardline approach on the deportation of "a huge number" of illegal immigrants, vowing Monday, if elected, "they're going out so fast your head would spin."

In remarks broadcast on Fox News, Trump described his intention to reporters traveling with the GOP nominee to a Labor Day rally in Youngstown, Ohio.

"They're going out so fast your head would spin," he said. "That's a huge number. That's not like a small number. That's a tremendous number."

Video of the exchange was posted by Mediaite.

In answer to a follow-up question about whether his immigration plan – outlined in a campaign speech in Phoenix last week – could include a pathway for illegal immigrants to legal status, Trump added there would be just one route: To leave the country first.

"To become a citizen you're going to have to go out and come back in," he said. "You're going to have to get on line. This isn't touchback. You have to go out and you have to get in line, you have to come back in to become a citizen."

In his Phoenix speech, Trump outlined a plan to initially deport any illegal immigrants with a criminal history, and those who have overstayed their visas, a total that could reportedly top 6 million.

He did not, however, specifically address what would happen with the millions of others of illegal immigrants in the country.
