A new poll shows Donald Trump leads Hillary Clinton in Iowa and trails by just 1 point in the key state of Virginia.
The Emerson College survey shows Trump with 44 percent support in Iowa, compared to Clinton's 39 percent. In Virginia, Clinton holds a 44 percent to 43 percent advantage.
Other findings from the poll:
- Libertarian Gary Johnson has 11 percent support in Virginia and 8 percent support in Iowa.
- In Virginia, 60 percent have an unfavorable view of Trump and 56 percent said the same about Clinton.
- In Virginia, independents favor Trump over Clinton, 47 percent to 28 percent.
- In Iowa, 62 percent have a unfavorable opinion of Clinton and 58 percent said the same about Trump.
Pollster John Zogby told Newsmax TV Thursday he believes Clinton is "stuck in the mud" because of her stagnant poll numbers, while Trump is moving up.
