Donald Trump made his first trek to the 9/11 Memoriam Museum Saturday, calling it a "great honor" – and later using the occasion to jab GOP presidential rival Sen. Ted Cruz's dis of "New York values."

Just 10 days ahead of New York's delegate-rich primary, Trump invited reporters to observe a stop on what New York City considers hallowed ground, the New York Post reports.

Museum officials announced the real estate billionaire made a $100,000 donation, the Post reports.

The Trump campaign afterward issued a statement saying the candidate and his wife "were incredibly impressed" with the museum, calling it "symbolic of the strength of our country, and in particular New Yorkers, who have done such an incredible job rebuilding that devastated section of our city."

"This is what 'New York values' are really all about," the statement said.

Cruz has faced a torrent of criticism while campaigning in New York for his "values" comment during the South Carolina debate in January.
