GOP presidential front-runner Donald Trump on Monday called for the retraction of an ad by a pro-Marco Rubio super PAC featuring plaintiffs in a lawsuit against his Trump University.
The Trump campaign released surveys of two of the three people featured in the ad, and said the third is still being obtained, but is "of a similar nature."
Kevin Scott's survey answers the question, "What was your overall experience?" as "Outstanding!! Very informative. I feel very comfortable." Scotts answers are positive and he gives all fives, the best ranking on a five-point scale to every aspect of the class. He rates "Finding Neighborhoods" and "Finding Deals" 5+ and "Property Analysis" 5+++.
Scott's only non-positive was in a response on how the mentorship could be improved.
"Perhaps add known brokers to our list ahead of time?" the survey shows.
Bob Guillo's form differs slightly in appearance, but also shows the participant to have also circled all fives in the satisfaction survey. Guillo's only suggestions for making the seminar better was, "Some slides were not clear" and "More comfortable chairs."
Both men said they would recommend Trump University to their friends.
"Donald J. Trump is requesting the immediate retraction of the ads created by Conservative Solutions PAC, which clearly was unlawfully coordinated with lightweight Senator Marco Rubio on these misleading commercials," a press release from the Trump campaign says. "The ads feature three individuals who are part of a lawsuit against Trump University, an educational program that has a 98% approval rating from all attendees. These individuals provided written praise of their experience in school surveys."
The now defunct Trump University was a series of seminars usually held in hotel ballrooms combined with one-on-one mentoring that aimed to teach people to become better at real estate investing. The lawsuit alleges that some people were duped out of up to $35,000 and got worthless advice.
But Trump cites 98 percent approval from attendees and its positive rating by the Better Business Bureau.
He says New York Attorney Gen. Eric Schneiderman is attempting to smear him with the fraud case because he did not receive "financial support" from Trump's daughter, Ivanka.
"Lightweight Marco Rubio is grasping at straws and produced terrible ads featuring three people who all provided written statements praising the program," Trump said in a prepared statement. "I demand an immediate retraction of this false and libelous ads. It just shows how low a failing campaign will go to help their failing candidate."
