Other posts came from first lady Melania Trump and Vice President Mike Pence:

New York City Mayor Bill de Blasio called the attack, which killed eight people and injured at least a dozen others, "an act of terror — and a particularly cowardly act of terror."

New York City Police Commissioner James O'Neill said that a 29-year-old man was arrested after being shot in the abdomen by a uniformed officer in the 3:05 p.m. attack.

Six people died at the scene, on the west side of Manhattan near the World Trade Center, and two others died at a local hospital.
