Donald Trump reportedly raised more than $5 million in online small donations on Wednesday — a day in which the GOP nominee met with the president of Mexico and later delivered a speech outlining his latest immigration and deportation plans.
The Wall Street Journal reports the the fundraising spike was a new daily high for the candidate.
According to the Journal, Trump campaign digital director Brad Parscale said more than $5 million in small-dollar donations — those under $200 — were sent to the campaign via online credit-card donations. The number doesn't include donations via phone or mail, the Journal noted.
The Trump campaign increased its online fundraising efforts last month, raising $64 million through digital and email fundraising for the campaign and a joint fund with the Republican Party, according to the Journal.
The Journal reports that in July, about 64 percent of the $37 million Trump raised for his campaign came from donations of less than $200. Rival Hillary Clinton's campaign raised $63 million in the same month, about 36 percent of which was from small donations.
