Don’t leave home without them. That’s the new recommendation from the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention as states reopen. According to the federal agency, always have these three items on hand when venturing out: a cloth face covering, a hand sanitizer containing at least 60% alcohol, and tissues.
According to Fox News, the CDC has been recommending the use of face coverings since April “where other social distancing measures are difficult to maintain.” Their guidance includes wearing face masks in grocery stores and pharmacies to protect against the potential spread of the coronavirus.
The use of alcohol-based hand sanitizers has also been on the CDC’s list of top virus-fighting tools since the emergence of the pandemic in America, although experts say hand hygiene using soap and water is preferred.
Tissues provide an effective barrier to protect you from touching potentially contaminated surfaces such as door handles. But Linda Morgan, a health and wellness expert, said they also come in handy to cover your nose or mouth if you sneeze or cough, according to Fox News.
“Make sure you throw them out immediately after use and wash your hands thoroughly,” she added.
