New Way to Beat Statin Side Effects

Patients who experience the common side effects of statin drugs might consider creatine as a remedy, according to a Johns Hopkins School of Public Health study.
The study found the nutrient helped reduce myalgia, weakness, and lethargy. It also went further, proposing that a reduction of creatine in muscles might be an additional side effect of statins.
The study involved 12 patients with intolerance to the drug. Eight out of 10 who were administered creatine therapy showed no side effect symptoms, researchers reported.
The study concluded that coenzyme Q10, coupled with creatine therapy, might be the most effective way to treat statins’ side effects.
Both supplements are widely available at health food and drug stores.
