Republicans’ massive victory in mid-term elections gave a pretty good idea of the public’s low esteem for Congress. A new Gallup poll confirms that view. It shows that a record low 13 percent of the American public approve of the job Congress is doing, while 83 percent disapprove,
Politico reports.
The lowest previous approval rating for Congress in a previous Gallup survey was 14 percent in July 2008. Among Democrats, 16 percent approve of Congress, down from 29 percent in November. Republicans are even less enthusiastic, with a mere 7 percent approving of the job Congress is doing. Gallup surveyed 1,019 adults Dec. 10-12. The margin of error is plus or minus 4 percentage points.
