Gallup: Obama Approval Hits New Low of 38%

The drop continues for Americans’ approval of President Barack Obama. Gallup’s daily tracking poll showed him with the lowest three-day approval rating of his presidency Aug. 25-27 — a paltry 38 percent. His disapproval rating was 55 percent.

Obama’s average approval rating for the Aug. 22-28 week registered 40 percent, tying the record low set in each of the two previous weeks.

The president will be particularly displeased to note that his approval rating slid below 50 percent among several groups that have backed him strongly in the past. That includes post-college graduates, Hispanics, 18- to 29-year-olds, and people who have low incomes.

The last time Obama's weekly approval rating stood at 50 percent or higher was May 30-June 5, 2011. The only groups showing majority approval for him now are blacks, Democrats and liberals.
