Fox News firebrand Glenn Beck plans a novel pay-to-view system for his new website venture, GBTV, after he leaves Fox on June 30. Subscriptions to the site, which will run Beck’s own “Glenn Beck” show alongside scripted and unscripted content, will cost between $5 and $10 a month, reports The New York Times.

glenn Beck web showBeck’s gamble is based on the expectation that people will increasingly shift to viewing Web programming through their televisions. It is an untested move, and Beck has acknowledged the risks: “I think we might be a little early. But I’d rather be ahead of the pack than part of it.”

His self-titled show will run for two hours on weekday afternoons. Beck promises a variety of content, and insists that GBTV will not be just a news outlet.

“If you’re a fan of Jon Stewart, you’re going to find something on GBTV that you’re going to enjoy,” said Beck. “If you’re a fan of ‘24,’ you’re going to find something on GBTV that you’re going to enjoy.”

GBTV.com’s first webcast is scheduled for June 8 at 7 p.m. eastern.
