Matthews Lauds Clinton in MSNBC Documentary

MSNBC is broadcasting a documentary about Bill Clinton hosted by Hardball’s Chris Matthews Monday night. And the piece offers a very flattering portrayal of the former president, Politico reports.

Matthews maintains that post-president Clinton has combined Theodore Roosevelt’s “international stardom” with Herbert Hoover’s “public redemption” and Jimmy Carter’s “low-key humanitarian work.”

Matthews utilized “Don’t Look Back,” a 1967 documentary about Bob Dylan’s concert tour in England, as a model for his own documentary. “I want to use Clinton as the narrator for a lot of it,” he tells Politico. “I want to capture the movement. I don’t want to be sitting in a room with somebody. I want a sense of the kinetic aspect of a guy whose real spiritual home is between here and the next stop.”
