McAuliffe Spins Monster Charge Into Money

Hillary Clinton for President Chairman Terry McAuliffe is trying to spin a Barack Obama adviser’s “monster” quote about Hillary into cash for the Clinton campaign.

In an e-mail to supporters, McAuliffe writes: “Just one day after Senator Obama promised to begin attacking Hillary, a senior Obama adviser has called her a ‘monster.’

“That’s right — a ‘monster.’”

Samantha Power, a foreign policy adviser to Obama's presidential campaign, was quoted as saying in The Scotsman newspaper that Clinton was stooping to low tactics to recover ground in the race to win the party's nomination.

"She is a monster, too - that is off the record - she is stooping to anything," Power was quoted as saying.

Power reigned on Friday after apologizing for the remark.

McAuliffe writes: “This is not the politics of hope — it is the usual attack style politics that we have seen time and time again. And it must stop.

“Only you can make that happen. A contribution now will show the Obama campaign that there is a price to this kind of attack politics.”

McAuliffe also charges the Obama campaign with running “deceptive radio attack ads and deceptive mailings” in Ohio, Texas, Wyoming and Mississippi.
