SACRAMENTO, Calif. — Former first lady Nancy Reagan is endorsing California Republican candidates Meg Whitman and Carly Fiorina.
Whitman and Fiorina announced separately Wednesday that each had received Reagan's endorsement.
Whitman is running against Democratic Attorney General Jerry Brown to be California's next governor. Fiorina is trying to unseat three-term Democratic Sen. Barbara Boxer.
The 89-year-old wife of the late President Ronald Reagan says Whitman will be a "good governor."
Reagan issued a statement through Fiorina's campaign saying the former CEO of Hewlett-Packard Co. "knows what needs to be done to move our country forward."
Fiorina's campaign says she met Reagan in Los Angeles Tuesday. Her campaign posted an online photo of Fiorina and Whitman standing with Reagan.
