“When all media is dying, Newsmax is thriving,” Fox Business Channel’s John Stossel observed during an interview at a dinner in Washington, D.C., Tuesday.
Asked why he recently was seen on Capitol Hill with a bullhorn, Stossel told Newsmax.TV: “I was just embarrassing myself to make the point that government is too big and they should stop spending so much.

“I mean look at this, you’re Newsmax.TV. Newsmax is this big, successful organization. When all media is dying, Newsmax is thriving, and [referring to Newsmax’s small video camera] this camera is this big and that’s Newsmax.TV. You don’t need big government, or big cameras.”
Stossel also stated: “I think gas is unbelievably cheap, given what it takes to get it here. It still costs less than the bottle of water they sell at gas stations.” But he added: “I think inflation will be a real, horrible problem because the Fed keeps printing more money and we’re deep in debt and we keep making promises. But maybe the new Congress will fix that.”
Stossel, an outspoken critic of Obamacare, was asked what he would like to see replace the healthcare reform law.
“Nothing,” he declared. “Which means the free market. The rule of law, and you buy your own stuff.
“Look at the one area of medicine that’s free market — LASIK eye surgery. The quality’s going up, prices are going down. But for anything that third parties pay, the quality has no incentive to improve and the prices go up.
“We need some Medicaid for truly helpless people. The government will pay for some basic medical care. The rest of it we ought to pay for ourselves. Stop asking Uncle Sam to pay for it.”
