In 2011 and 2012 President Obama announced his Department of Homeland Security (DHS) promulgated “prosecutorial discretion” and “deferred action" for childhood arrivals (DACA) memoranda/executive orders that granted illegal aliens and illegal alien youths “stay in country free” cards.
These actions were welcomed throughout the world, especially in Central America.
On Jan. 29, 2013, President Obama held a press conference, expounding a globalist position that bounds far left of the comparatively moderate Senate immigration reform bill (S-744). The Republican-controlled House and its constituents knew the Senate bill was deeply flawed, especially the promise of strict border security.
Neither the Senate nor House Republicans trust Obama to enforce the law, and neither did a majority of Americans.
President Obama in early June 2014 called the tsunami of foreign children illegally crossing the U.S.-Mexico border in Texas an “urgent humanitarian crisis.”
On July 9-10, 2014 he attended two major fund-raisers in Austin, Texas costing attendees $32,400 per person. He did not visit the Rio Grande Valley, the home of the “urgent humanitarian crisis.”
South of the border down Mexico way, everybody benefits from the children’s mass migration — the homelands lessened their financial burdens, the Mexican drug cartels received money for smuggling the children plus they have less Border Patrol on the line, and Mexican officials got “morbita” or bribes from the cartels.
Obama and the Democrats got sympathy for the children which aided them with a flawed bill. Congressional Democrats wanted these illegal border-crossers to be declared “refugees,” which they are not. In addition, they want illegal aliens already in the county declared “refugees.”
These illegal aliens do not meet any of the requirements of Section 101 (a) (42) of the Immigration and Nationality Act.
The first requirement is that the refugee applicant must be located outside the United States.
Fast forward to 2016, and the Obama administration is letting tens of thousands of Muslim “refugees” to enter the United States with no serious vetting. ISIS stated it was sending jihadists to the West as “refugees.”
The Boston Marathon bombers were unvetted entrants.
The Department of Homeland Security (DHS) is in complete confusion with conflicting orders by the President giving illegal aliens freedom and benefits, while claiming to have the DHS deport illegal alien criminals.
As of March 2016 a top DHS political appointee, Deputy Secretary Alejandro Mayorkas, told Border Patrol agents that the Obama administration has no intention of deporting illegal aliens sneaking into the United States, rather these people are to be released with no Notice to Appear summons for a court hearing concerning their illegal entry.
The president of the National Border Patrol Council testified before the U.S. House of Representatives Judiciary Committee that verbal orders are being given Border Patrol agents not to interview minors illegally crossing the U.S. border.
Also, Mayorkas told the Border Patrol agents that if they did not want follow the directions of their superiors and the president of the United States and the commissioner of Customs and Border Protection then they really do need to look for another job.
Further he stated the agents have no cause nor right to object to Obama’s policies even if they may be in opposition to present immigration law.
In Texas, Border Patrol agents who ride with Texas state troopers note there is clear separation of duties and obligations. If the Border Patrol agent and state trooper locate illegal aliens the Border patrol agent may investigate as to immigration laws only, and if while questioning one alien, the other aliens escape the trooper must do nothing.
The trooper may ticket or arrest for state offenses only.
Obama rules of engagement means detentions of illegal aliens are not occurring and the stream of illegal aliens goes unabated. Any estimate as to the number of undocumented aliens in the United States is just a guess.
Between no effort to control visa overstays and no effort to detain illegal entries on the border there is no known way to accurately count the illegal aliens number now in the United States.
Combining these failures with the lack of meaningful vetting of legal immigrants, asylum seekers, and refugees the risk to national security is very high. ISIS and other terrorist organizations understand Obama, his global vision, and his beliefs of American transgressions.
These understandings cause terrorists to use Obama’s thinking to their benefits.
Obama continues to ignore radical Islamic terror as demonstrated by his family vacation to Cuba and Argentina as Brussels and the world suffers.
Unfortunately, many Americans share his lack of interest in national security until such time they are directly affected by the terror like San Bernadino or Brussels.
For many Americans ignorance is bliss.
