One day after the French government soundly condemned the Iranian regime for attempting to bomb a rally organized in Paris by their leading opposition group in exile, White House National Security Advisor John Bolton voiced his own denunciation of the mullahs in Tehran.

“They arrested and other European governments have arrested accredited Iranian diplomats--accredited Iranian diplomats--for conspiracy to conduct this attempted assault on the rally in Paris,” Bolton told Newsmax at a White House briefing.

On Tuesday, the government of French President Emmanuel Macron announced it was freezing the assets belonging to Tehran’s intelligence services and two Iranian nationals.

This decision came after French intelligence revealed that Iranian intelligence had plotted to bomb a June meeting of the Paris-based National Council of Iranian Resistance (NCRI), one of the most durable of opposition groups to the ruling theocracy in Tehran.

Among those scheduled to speak at the meeting was Rudy Giuliani, former New York mayor and personal attorney for President Trump.

The bombing plot was foiled after one of the alleged plotters, Vienna-based Iranian diplomat Assadollah Asadi, was arrested and held by German authorities.

“That tells you everything you need to know  how the Iranian government views its responsibilities in connection with diplomatic relations,” Bolton told us, “and I hope it’s a wakeup call across Europe to the nature of the regime and the threat that they pose.”
