Will a Biden Administration Learn That Their Beijing Friends Can't Be Trusted?

Last month, a professor and associate dean at the Renmin University School of International Studies in Beijing, appeared on a Chinese television show saying that China had "people at the top of America's core inner circle of power and influence" for many years until President Trump came along. That’s when everything changed.

The 18-minute-long video discussion, which had originally been posted on Weibo, has since been deleted from Chinese social media.

Prof. Di Dongsheng made special note of how easy it had been to manipulate the Obama-Biden administration.

He expressed pleasure that a Joe Biden presidency will be favorable to a return of Beijing influence through their undercover network of "old friends" who were at the highest levels of the U.S. government and financial institutions.

Di said, "Now, I’m going to drop a bomb," explaining that during the last three to four decades Beijing relied heavily upon the inner circle of Wall Street, "America’s real power over domestic and foreign affairs," to influence their interests.

The professor observed that after Trump was elected in 2016, "Wall Street couldn't control Trump, because, awkwardly, there was a soft breach of contract between them, which made them hostile to each other."

Although Di said he was unable to give specific details without compromising the identities of those involved, he revealed how President Trump's trade war with China caused huge upset over ties that had been nurtured for decades between Washington and Beijing.

"During the U.S.-China trade war, they tried to help," Di said. "My friends in the U.S. told me that they tried to help, but they couldn't." He later added,” I can’t say more without getting in political trouble."

Di expressed optimism that Beijing’s U.S. influence is about to return its long-held connections when an incoming Biden administration is in charge. "Now with Biden winning the election, the traditional elites, political elites, the establishment, they have a very close relationship with the Wall Street," he said.

Di rhetorically asked, "You all heard that Trump said Biden's son has securities companies all over the world. But who helped Biden's son build his global companies? Got it?"

Referring to lucrative Biden family influence peddling deals first reported in a bomb shell Oct. 14 New York Post report, Di further elaborated, "There are indeed buy-and-sell transactions involved in here, so I think at this particular time, [with Biden winning the election], it is of strategic and tactical value for us to show goodwill to him."

"This," Di added, "This is my personal understanding based upon my limited professional background."

Prof. Dongsheng reported that one Wall Street agent who has been particularly useful helped the Chinese government with Washington, D.C. propaganda operations. That individual is now a dual U.S.-Chinese citizen who lives part time in Beijing.

Lou Dobbs, on his Dec. 8 Fox "Tonight Show," identified who he believed to be some of Beijing’s "old and good American friends."

Dobbs named Goldman Sachs as a key player, a company that plans to acquire 100% ownership of its mainland China joint venture bank partner Gao Hua Securities.

Another is Black Rock, the world’s biggest asset manager that has recently received the first approval from the China Securities Regulatory Commission (CSRC) to form a wholly owned mutual fund unit in that country.

TV host Dobbs also identified U.S. Rep. Eric Swalwell, D-Calif., who serves in the House Intelligence Committee as a reliable Chinese propaganda friend.

Swalwell has been on the front line in accusations of Trump Russian collusion during the Mueller special counsel’s failed attempt to find evidence of any impeachable offenses.

The congressman has also been quoted in Chinese media of claiming that Trump’s "China coronavirus" charges were racist.

Lou Dobbs’ assertions that Swalwell is a compromised Beijing asset are corroborated by an expansive yearlong Axios investigation of members of Congress and other influential politicians who have been targeted by China’s main civilian spy agency between 2011 and 2015.

Axios recently reported that Swalwell, a principal target, began a relationship on 2012 with a Chinese spy named Christine Fang ("Fang Fang").

Fang was then a student in the Bay Area who was actively involved in raising money from legitimate U.S. sources for up-and coming Democrat office candidates. She became an active financial bundler for Swalwell’s congressional election and reelection campaigns.

Fang reportedly helped place at least one intern in Swalwell's.

She was seen and photographed with Swalwell at multiple events over the course of several years. Upon learning that the FBI was on her trail, Fang fled back to China.

Swalwell's office declined responding to Axios information request, other than stating: "Rep. Swalwell, long ago, provided information about this person — whom he met more than eight years ago, and whom he hasn’t seen in nearly six years — to the FBI. To protect information that might be classified, he will not participate in your story."

Fang sought out mayors around the U.S., and reportedly engaged in relationships with at least two mayors of Midwestern cities.

Christine Fang is but one among a legion of Chinese spies that have engaged in an espionage effort against other Congressional members as well. One agent was discovered to have served as Democratic California Senator Diane Feinstein’s driver.

U.S. intelligence officials, including DNI John Radcliff, warn that China's U.S. government espionage and influence operations have become more aggressive and emboldened.

We can only hope that a Biden administration will learn that their old Beijing friends can’t be entrusted with America’s best interests.
