The disastrous misinformation issued by the United Nations’ World Health Organization (WHO) by their lead official with close ties to organs of Chinese Communist Party propaganda reveals a systemic bureaucratic problem of epic scope and consequence.
WHO Director-General Tedros Adhanom Ghebreyesus had tweeted on Jan. 14 that "Preliminary investigations conducted by the Chinese authorities have found no clear evidence of human-to-human transmission."
His agency took another urgently time-critical week to reverse that misinformation.
This retraction occurred after Taiwanese officials had previously alerted WHO on Dec. 31 that they had seen evidence that the virus could be transmitted human-to-human. Bowing to Beijing influence, and lacking WHO membership standing, the agency chose not to heed the warning.
WHO continued to dither on the matter of whether or not to declare COVID-19 a "public health emergency of international concern." By the time they decided to do so on January 23, the virus had already spread to several countries. A University of Southampton study concluded that the number of coronavirus cases could have been reduced by 95% had China moved to contain the virus three weeks sooner.
Nevertheless, international health emergency or not, Tedros declared that "WHO doesn't recommend limiting trade and movement." Providently disputing that terrible advice, President Trump shut down flights from China the very next day. That swift and decisive action saved tens of thousands — perhaps millions — of American lives.
Tedros had warned against such a ban, intoning that the action would increase "fear and stigma, with little public health benefit." The first U.S. COVID-19 case was detected four days after the China closure on Feb. 4.
Beijing officials were well aware of the beginning of the coronavirus outbreak in Wuhan sometime in the autumn, possibly as early as November.
The deadly contagion had then rapidly accelerated in December.
Dr. Li Wenliange who had warned fellow associates to wear protective clothing on Dec. 30 was accused by government authorities of lies that "severely disturbed the social order."
Dr. Wenliange, an ophthalmologist, later died of the virus.
Nevertheless, upon returning on Jan. 30 from meetings with President Xi Jinping and other officials in China, Tedros reported, "The Chinese government is to be congratulated for the extraordinary measures it has taken. . . . I left in absolutely no doubt about China's commitment to transparency."
Tedros also praised China for setting "a new standard for outbreak response," and the speed with which China "sequenced the genome and shared it with WHO and the world."
That sharing, however, didn't occur until Jan. 12.
It shouldn’t be surprising that Tedros has a soft place in his heart for Beijing Marxist politicos who strongly supported his successful 2017 election bid for the top spot WHO position. It should, however, be disturbing — if not surprising — that a non-medical doctor with a controversially murky background would have become a serious candidate in the first place.
Tedros, who had risen through the ranks of Ethiopia’s left-wing Tigray People's Liberation Front to become the Marxist government regime’s health and foreign minister, had been accused of covering up three cholera outbreaks in his native country.
After becoming WHO’s director-general, Tedros tried to install Zimbabwe dictator Robert Mugabe as a WHO goodwill ambassador.
There should be little wonder why President Trump suspended all U.S. financial support to WHO as by far their largest donor until their suspected collusion with China in the early COVID-19 emergency cover-up is thoroughly investigated.
Many other WHO member-states share a similar lack of trust in the organization. The Japanese deputy prime minister has referred to WHO as the "Chinese Health Organization." British Prime Minister Boris Johnson had been rethinking U.K. ties to WHO in concert with China's lack of candor even prior to his personal experience with its menace.
Disastrous global consequences of bureaucratic corruption within the United Nations that directly contributed to the very real the COVID-19 pandemic crisis echoes on-going agenda-driven exploitation of manufactured alarmism stoked by its Intergovernmental Panel on Climate Change (IPCC).
Leaving no doubt whatsoever regarding the U.N.’s true agenda, IPCC official Ottmar Edenhofer, speaking in November 2010, advised that, ". . . one has to free oneself from the illusion that international climate policy is environmenta l policy. Instead, climate change policy is about how we redistribute de facto the world’s wealth . . ."
In 1996, former Soviet Union President Mikhail Gorbachev explicitly emphasized the importance of using climate alarmism to advance socialist Marxist objectives, "The threat of environmental crisis will be the international disaster key to unlock the New World Order."
Crises of all kinds, whether real or fabricated — whether economic, political, military, or health — attract opportunists who will exploit the events to serve their ideological world view agendas.
Among these, the United Nations has repeatedly demonstrated that it is among the very most politically corrupt, aggressive and influential.
WHO’s grievous participation in the Wuhan coronavirus debacle again tragically reminds us that we should never trust their advice — much less continue to help enable the U.N.’s enormously ambitious world government aspirations.
