It should come as no big surprise to anyone with a three-digit I.Q. that the majority of American journalists, reporters, and talking heads lean far to the ideological left. While this been the case for decades if not centuries, it has become far more pronounced since the inauguration of Donald J. Trump as the nation’s 45th president one year ago.
Rather than acknowledge defeat, show a modicum of class and dignity, and quietly access their method of delivering the news, the militant left — with some not-so-subtle prodding from Hillary Clinton and Barack Obama — began a relentless series of attacks on President Trump which most rational people have deemed unfounded and without merit, if not pure fabrication.
Earlier this week President Trump issued his “fake news” awards to the reporters, commentators and news outlets that got it wrong or flat out lied when trying to discredit him and offered further proof (as if it was needed) that liberals think with their hearts instead of their brains.
Not long after President John F. Kennedy took office in 1961, many high-profile members of the entertainment community began voicing their political opinions and haven’t taken a brake since. As with the media, roughly 95 percent of the entertainment industry is ruled with an iron fist by the left and the day after the 2016 election made it their mission to join their brethren in bashing conservatives in general and President Trump in particular, whether people not living near an ocean wanted to hear it or not.
This uniformed call to arms began in earnest on January 9 with Meryl Streep’s bellicose-riddled tirade at the Golden Globe Awards. Indignant, rambling and self-righteous, the grand dame of cinema made it more than clear she does not care for President Trump. This thrilled practically everyone at the event beyond repair and why not? Streep was preaching to a choir predisposed to interpret every word spilling out of her mouth as gospel. We didn’t know it then, but what most American citizens discovered only just last week, Streep would, in an indirect way, provide the year’s last bit of Trump bashing.
What Streep and many like her hadn’t counted on was the fierce blowback from President Trump, perhaps the first person to occupy the White House who wasn’t going roll over and remain mum when being verbally attacked. From Chelsea Handler to Kathy Griffin and Rosie O’Donnell to Stephen Colbert, Jimmy Kimmel, Don Lemon, Rachel Maddow and the once great Robert de Niro, the base, foul, disgusting, sometimes threatening and largely inaccurate verbal diarrhea being spewed from the mouths of these sore losers and limousine liberals went beyond the pale.
It could be possible to maybe overlook these rants, mistruths, and personal attacks on the president throughout the late winter and early spring while he was getting acclimated to the office and had not yet made any significant achievements, yet it as only gotten worse. The more the president succeeds and makes strides to improve the lives of all Americans, the angrier the left gets and somehow still believe they can convince the American people that they are right and the president is dangerous.
The left has been far more successful at slowly swaying the masses with the content of their films. No one has yet to make much of an issue of it because it’s mostly done with some degree of finesse and subtly. The messages aren’t usually obvious and they’re not always found in every film but they exist and they’re only going to increase. The Hollywood machine has already begun its mission to brainwash the American movie consumer more than ever and have at least 36 more months to concoct upwards to 1,000 new feature films that could be released before the 2020 election.
In my next column I will offer up a companion piece of sorts to the President’s “fake news” awards by pointing out a number of 2017 movies that carried with them clear and not-so-clear anti-conservative, anti-family, and frequently anti-American messaging and why you shouldn’t trust most movie critics.
Originally from Washington, D.C., Michael Clark has written for over 30 local and national media outlets and is currently the only newspaper-based film critic providing original content in the Atlanta Top 10 media marketplace and he recently co-founded the Atlanta Film Critics Circle. Over the last two decades, Mr. Clark has written over 3,500 movie reviews and film related articles and is one of the scant few conservative-minded U.S. critics.
