Newsmax reports that Donald Trump continues his assault on biased and dishonest media, tweeting his disapproval over a perceived lack of coverage of the reopened FBI investigation of Hillary Clinton and her private email server.
Trump’s most recent tweet: "Wow, Twitter, Google and Facebook are burying the FBI criminal investigation of Clinton. Very dishonest media!"
He’s right. The social media bias against non-leftists is notorious.
Facebook chief Mark Zuckerberg is a hapless, hardcore Democratic progressive who can barely contain his intense dislike of any sort of dissension. In fact, my own comments were deleted by Facebook’s laughable “Community Standards” division, when I called Islam a "political movement," and not merely a religion.
While Zuckerberg has a right to do what he pleases with his company, he should stand up and be candid about how he uses his technical knowledge to stack the “Trending” deck against all things non-leftist.
Instead, he cowers behind “community standards.” He has no business trading stock as a social media company when the “socializing” must first match his personal political opinions.
But there is a bright side.
The people who care the most about media bias are well aware that it exists.
Donald Trump has made bigger strides than ever before by directing attention to media bias as millions rally around him in agreement. Apparently, every time a biased talking head like Megyn Kelly and her ilk sneeringly apologizes for Hillary Clinton, more and more people line up to vote for Trump.
Ultimately, the free market will decide.
If the vast 98 percent majority of people who use social media were actually biased leftists, then the rest of us would just have to get over it. But that’s not the case. Millions and millions of people are sick of the insultingly obvious media bias that Trump decries. They might even be in the majority. This anger has to go somewhere, and it will, even beyond Election Day.
Once upon a time, in the 1980s and 1990s, there were the three news networks, plus CNN.
All were biased in favor of Democrats, leftists and socialists, just as today. Then Fox News came along. So much for that; we know the rest.
Then the Internet came along.
Now, Fox News under the influence of “NeverTrumpers,” like the spectacularly vapid Megyn Kelly, marches in lockstep with the leftist rabble.
It’s a free for all and nobody can stop it.
One of Donald Trump’s central campaign themes has been media bias. He has correctly called out the media not only for that, but for its little army of downright dishonest people.
And at least half of the country knows he’s right.
Trump took over the Republican Party partly on the basis of fighting dangerous political correctness and dishonest media bias. No matter what happens in next week’s election, it’s an encouraging and irreversible trend.
Freedom and liberty have never been the norm in human history.
Centuries down the road it might be different, but not today. America’s singular liberty and freedom will not rise again without a fight, and it’s up to people who cherish their liberty to fight for it before it disappears in the name of “globalism” (translation: socialism).
The good news is we still have a fight. As America’s founders put it, the price of liberty is eternal vigilance. Ronald Reagan echoes, “Freedom is never more than one generation away from extinction.”
One of the most sickening things I hear from Hillary supporters and “Never Trumpers” is: “That’s not who we are.” This smug and preachy catchphrase is the standby battle cry used against those who defend liberty and who fight back against Islam, socialism, and other enemies of individual rights.
Well, Hillary and all the rest, listen up: Freedom and liberty, particularly when it comes to the First Amendment, is exactly who we are. You and your band of progressives can always be depended on to utter it with a smirk whenever you’re backed into a corner by Donald Trump or any other dissenting opinion.
But for those of us who know who we are and who we are supposed to be, it’s time to fight back by turning out on Election Day.
It may well be our last chance.
