Former Democratic presidential candidate Andrew Yang will join CNN as a political commentator, and he will appear Wednesday evening before the Democratic debate in Nevada.
CNN Communications announced Wednesday morning that Yang, an entrepreneur who founded the startup fellowship program Venture For America, will join the network as a political commentator.
Yang wrote on Twitter: “Will be on CNN tonight to talk about the debate! Maybe I’ll wear a tie.”
He added later: “I’m excited to join CNN to help shed light on the election and the candidates’ experiences. Learned a lot these past months and am glad to contribute to the public discussion.”
CNN wrote in an announcement that Yang “rose from obscurity to become a highly-visible candidate, rallying a coalition of liberal Democrats, libertarians and some disaffected Republicans to form a devoted group of followers known as the Yang Gang.”
The network describes Yang as having a “happy go-lucky style,” that helped “burnish his image as a candidate just happy to be with his fans.”
Yang also said he “will likely live tweet the debate tonight.”
