President Donald Trump’s job approval rating is holding steady with registered voters at 44% amid a decline in support from political independents, a new poll showed.

In the latest HarrisX survey for The Hill, taken May 24-25 and released Wednesday, Trump’s 44% approval compared with 56% who disapproved.

The results are unchanged from the previous May 13-14 survey, but down slightly from April, when he garnered a 46% approval rate.

Independents appeared to be key, The Hill reported.

In the latest survey, 35% of independents approve of Trump, down from 43% in the May 13-14 survey, and 50% in early February, The Hill reported.

The poll’s margin of error is plus or minus 3.1 percentage points.
