A 14-year-old male student was shot in the back of the neck and a teacher injured in a shooting at a middle school in Atlanta, according to news reports.
One suspect — tentatively identified by Atlanta police as a student — was in custody in connection with the incident about 1:50 p.m. at Price Middle School in southeast Atlanta, according to
The Atlanta Journal-Constitution.
Both the student and teacher were taken to local hospitals, CNN reports.
Atlanta police told CNN that they found that the 14-year-old had been shot outside the building. He was transported “alert, conscious, and breathing” to a local hospital.
No further information was available on the injured or the shooter, the newspaper reports.
The school is located east of downtown Atlanta and was placed on lockdown following the shooting. Parents are not allowed to pick up children at this time.
