Former President Barack Obama's ratings on several major issues have steadily climbed since he left office, HuffPost reports.
While Obama's overall job rating has stayed around the same — it was 49 percent in the HuffPost/YouGov survey released Tuesday and 48 percent in December — his numbers on the economy, foreign policy, the environment, immigration, health care, social issues, the way things work in Washington and helping everyday Americans have improved.
The most drastic change was how the former president addressed the way things work in Washington, which spiked seven percentage points from 32 to 39.
"Americans tend to be more charitable in their evaluations of past presidents than they are when the presidents are in office," Gallup's Jeffrey M. Jones said in 2013. "Former presidents likely transcend politics when they leave office, moving into a more nonpolitical role compared with the highly political environment in which presidents operate. And Americans' retrospective views of presidents may focus more on their accomplishments as president rather than the day-to-day political decisions or the state of the nation that are big influences on their approval ratings while in office."
President Donald Trump's disapproval rating on Tuesday hit a new record high according to the latest Gallup poll, with 60 percent of Americans saying they don't like the job he is doing.
