Beto O’Rourke, who is deciding whether to make a bid for the White House in 2020, has met privately with former President Barack Obama, The Washington Post is reporting.
The meeting was held Nov. 16 in Washington after O’Rourke’s loss to Sen. Ted Cruz, R-Texas. The newspaper said it came as some of Obama’s former aides have pushed O’Rourke to run.
O’Rourke has said he has not made any decision whether to run in 2020.
"Amy and I made a decision not to rule anything out," O'Rourke said referring to his wife.
A new political action committee has been set up to try to draft him to run in 2020.
Meanwhile, representatives for both Obama and O’Rourke declined comment about the meeting between the two men.
The Post noted Obama has reportedly met with other possible 2020 candidates, including Sen. Elizabeth Warren, D-Mass. and Sen. Bernie Sanders, I-Vt.
Obama recently said O’Rourke reminded him of himself.
