Vice President Joseph Biden said that the United States needs a "constant, unrelenting stream" of new immigrants, "not dribbling [but] significant flows," to strengthen the economy, The Hill reported.

In remarks to the National Association of Manufacturers in Washington, Biden said that American exceptionalism positions the country to integrate immigrants who would help to grow the economy, according to The Daily Caller.

"We need it badly from a purely – purely economic point of view," Biden said, according to the Hill.

He also urged passage of immigration reform, according to his Twitter feed.

Were the Congress to pass immigration reform, Biden said, the U.S. GDP would rise by 5.4 percent or $1.4 trillion in the coming 20 years while the country's deficit would come down by $850 billion. "That's real powerful economic growth," he said.
