Bill Clinton to Lead US Delegation to Srebrenica Anniversary

President Barack Obama has picked former President Bill Clinton to lead the U.S. delegation to the commemoration marking the 20th anniversary of the Srebrenica massacre.

The White House says Clinton will be joined by members of Congress and former Secretary of State Madeleine Albright. The commemoration is scheduled for Saturday in Bosnia-Herzegovina.

Some 8,000 Muslim men and boys were executed in Srebrenica in 1995 when Serb forces overran the eastern Bosnian town and mounted Europe's worst massacre since World War II.

Bosnia's 1992-95 war played a central role in Clinton's foreign policy. After the massacre, Albright waved satellite photos of mass graves in Bosnia at the U.N. Security Council.

Clinton later advocated for the creation of the International Commission for Missing Persons, a Bosnia-based DNA identification project.
