Terry McAuliffe's quest for Virginia governor got a huge boost Monday from former President Bill Clinton.

Clinton attended a fundraiser in Orlando, Fla., for the candidate that also featured Charlie Crist, Florida's former governor, and the two attorneys, John Morgan and Richard Swann, who sponsored the affair, Politico reported.

Clinton said he planned to travel to several other fundraisers for McAuliffe as the race winds down, including one set for Oct. 28 in McLean, Va., which will take place at Dwight and Martha Schar's home.

Dwight Schar is the Republican National Committee's former finance chairman, and he fully supports the Democratic nominee.

McAuliffe faces Republican candidate Ken Cuccinelli, the state's Attorney General, on Nov. 5. McAuliffe maintains a significant financial advantage, as well as an election advantage. Polls show him with a single-digit lead that is growing daily.

Joining Clinton in his support of McAuliffe is wife Hillary. The former secretary of state will headline the "Women for Terry" event Oct. 19 in Falls Church, Va., The Hill reported.
