Comedian Bill Maher took direct aim at Communism supporters and the so-called "woke revolution" taking place in America on Friday, while also mocking the "insane arrogance" of people who paint themselves as the most evolved form of human.
During his HBO show, "Real Time with Bill Maher," the political provocateur condemned those pushing Socialist or Communist viewpoints onto the public, without fully understanding the consequences for doing so.
"The problem with Communism," Maher explained, "is they think you can change reality by screaming at it, that you can bend human nature by holding your breath, but that's the difference between reality and your mommy."
After drawing a sustained period of laughter from the audience, Maher then punctuated his riff by regaling that former President Abraham Lincoln "once said, 'you can repeal all past history, but you still cannot repeal human nature.' But he's canceled now, so [expletive] him."
Maher then jokingly shared a faux story in which he asked Chat GPT if there was any difference between today's "woke revolution" and former Chinese dictator Chairman Mao Zedong's revolution from a half-century ago.
"And Chat GPT said, 'How long do you have?' Because again, we have somebody in China's who's willing to do a Page 1 rewrite ... of humans. Mao ordered his citizens to throw off 'The Four Olds' — old thinking, old culture, old customs, and old habits — so your life would go in the trash bin overnight."
Maher than blasted Mao for killing millions of his own citizens, and subsequently forcing the remaining survivors in China to repent and accept the government's commands, without any resistance.
"And submit to reeducation, or as we say here in America, 'Freshman Orientation'" at the college level, quipped Maher.
For his monologue conclusion, Maher voiced his exasperation with grown American adults ceding their freedoms of expression on Twitter — out of fear of being "canceled" in the social media universe.
Maher then discussed how The Beatles' "Revolution" from the famous White Album was initially viewed as a pro-revolution song, when, in actuality, songwriter John Lennon had been expressing dismay with those deriving pleasure from limiting other people's freedoms.
"There's a guy who understood that good intentions can turn into the insane arrogance of thinking your revolution is so [expletive] awesome, that your generation is so mind-bendingly improved, that you have bequeathed the world a new kind of human. You're welcome!" said Maher, with a tinge of sarcasm.
