A prominent Black Lives Matter activist says he was among those meeting with President Barack Obama to talk about tensions between law enforcement and some black communities that have roiled the nation.

DeRay Mckesson tweeted out the news Wednesday, saying he'd be with fellow activists Brittany Packnett and Minneapolis-based Black Lives Matter leader Mica Grimm.

According to The Hill, the meeting will involve nearly three-dozen law enforcement officials, civil rights leaders, educators and local elected officials – and comes in the wake of the ambush of five Dallas police officers during a protest march over police shootings of black men in Baton Rouge, La., and Falcon Heights, Minn.

Also attending will be Louisiana Democratic Gov. John Bel Edwards, Louisiana State Police chief Michael Edmonson, Saint Paul, Minn., Democratic Mayor Chris Coleman and the city's police chief, Todd Axtell, The Hill reports.
