Democrats do not really want results on securing the border because their agenda depends on flipping solid red states over to solid blue, former Gov. John Sununu claimed Monday morning.
"They have a short-term agenda of not giving the president any political wins," the ex-New Hampshire governor and one time chief of staff for President George H.W. Bush told Fox News' "America's Newsroom." "In the long term, they feel they gain from chaos on immigration policy and open borders."
Further, Democrats turned California from a one-time Republican stronghold to a solid deep blue state, Sununu said, and "they'd like to do the same thing in other places like Texas."
"They see the current chaos in the immigration policy as meeting that agenda," he added.
He also slammed Democrats who have labeled Trump or his call for a border wall and security as pointless or immoral.
"Any time you hear a Democrat use the words ineffective, immoral or whatever, you're listening to a hypocrite," Sununu added. "The fact is, they know that this would stop free migration across the border, illegal immigration across the border, but they like illegal immigration across the border, and they'll use any false description of reality in order to support the position that politically."
Democrats also are taking advantage of "horrible incidents" like the deaths being reported among migrants, even those of the two children, Sununu claimed.
"They seem to ignore their own responsibility in creating this false agenda that for people to make this hundreds of miles trek, not in good health to begin with, and encourage them to go through a process that has a false promise at the end," said Sununu.
