Christine Blasey Ford's father told Brett Kavanaugh's dad at a Maryland golf club last year that he was glad that his son was confirmed to the Supreme Court despite his daughter's sexual-assault allegations during the confirmation process, according to a published report Thursday.
Ralph Blasey, Ford's father, "went out of his way to offer to Ed Kavanaugh his support of Brett Kavanaugh's confirmation to the Supreme Court," The Federalist reported Thursday, citing "multiple people familiar with the conversation."
The men met at the Burning Tree Club in Bethesda, Maryland, outside Washington, "within days of Kavanaugh's confirmation," the Federalist reported.
"I'm glad Brett was confirmed," Blasey reportedly told the elder Kavanaugh, "shaking his hand."
"Blasey added that the ordeal had been tough for both families," according to the Federalist.
Brett Kavanaugh, 54, was confirmed to the Supreme Court last October after the Senate Judiciary Committee held a supplemental hearing over sexual-assault allegations by Blasey Ford, 52, a Palo Alto University psychology professor.
Kavanaugh denied Blasey Ford's accusations, along with those of two other women who had alleged sexual misconduct in the past.
President Donald Trump nominated Kavanaugh, a federal appellate court judge, the previous July to succeed retiring Associate Justice Anthony Kennedy.
According to the Federalist, both fathers belonged to the Burning Tree Club — adding that the "encounter immediately caused a stir at the close-knit private golf club as staff and members shared the news."
In addition, "the conversation between the two men echoed a letter that Blasey had previously sent to the elder Kavanaugh," according to the report.
Neither responded to requests for comment from the Federalist about their exchanges.
