Sam Springsteen, the youngest child of Bruce Springsteen and Patti Scialfa, has been hired by the Jersey City Fire Department as a firefighter, his mother announced on Friday.

“CONGRATULATIONS,” wrote Scialfa, adding a flames emoji. “You followed your dreams ... JC firefighter .. Stay safe .. love your brave heart.”

Representatives from the Jersey City Fire Department and Jersey City did not comment on the hiring to The New York Post or the Asbury Park Press, which is a part of the USA Today Network.

The Post notes that Springsteen, 25, ranked 42 out of 961 people on the Jersey City Fire Department civil service, according to records that the newspaper reviewed in March. He previously served in the Colts Neck Fire Department, his hometown, the Long Branch Fire Department and the North Wildwood Fire Department.

Springsteen is “very smart,” Monmouth County Fire Marshal Henry Stryker III told the USA Network New Jersey upon his graduation from the Monmouth County academy. “He enjoyed what he was doing.”
