In states with early nominating contests, 62% of Democrats described themselves as "very liberal" or "somewhat liberal," a CBS/YouGov poll reveals.

- 31% say they are "very liberal."
- 31% say they are "somewhat liberal."
- 33% say they are moderate/conservative.
- 63% of those describing themselves as "very liberal" say they are paying close attention to the 2020 candidates, compared to 48% of those "somewhat liberal," and 37% who are moderate/conservative.
- 70% of the "very liberal" poll takers say they want a candidate who refuses money from big donors, compared to 55% of those who are "somewhat liberal," and 59% who say they are moderate/conservative.
- 81% of those who are "very liberal" say they must hear from a candidate about reducing global warming, compared to 72% of those who are "somewhat liberal," and 55% who are moderate/conservative.
The poll, conducted May 31-June 12, surveyed 7,885 Democrats and Democratic-leaning Independents in 18 states that were expected to hold early primaries and caucuses. No margin of error was provided.
